1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
3 Know ye that the LORD he [is] God: [it is] he [that] hath made us, and not we ourselves; [we are] his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, [and] into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, [and] bless his name.
5 For the LORD [is] good; his mercy [is] everlasting; and his truth [endureth] to all generations.
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, [bless] his holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good [things; so that] thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
2 Corinthian’s 4:15
“For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.”
1. Vain worship: Matthew 15:8-9
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with [their] lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching [for] doctrines the commandments of men.
2. A genuine heart: Psalms 51:16-17
16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give [it]: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God [are] a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
A. David’s heart broken now could feel gratitude for God‘s mercy.
B. When I see and experience God‘s undeserved grace it brings glory to God.
C. The process. God‘s goodness is experienced as wonderful and undeserved. My heart feels a special privilege that touches me so deeply that it makes me grateful and thankful in my heart to God. God‘s power is then released in my life as a miracle.
3. Thanks feeling miracle Psalms 51:10-14
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me [with thy] free spirit.
13 [Then] will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: [and] my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
A. We can make ourselves say thank you, but we can’t make ourselves feel thankfulness.
B. If our hearts are not moved because of God’s goodness then we become ungrateful and nothing is good enough for us. We are then never satisfied because only God can bring fulfillment and satisfaction.
C. When my eyes finally see God‘s love and His kindness and His goodness that is given to me, a miracle of thanks feeling comes into my heart giving God all Thanksgiving and Glory and Honor.
