Ricky Sinclair: Resolving Conflict God’s Way pt.2

Resolving Conflict God’s Way

Galatians 5:16-18,22

16 [This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Galatians 2:20

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Galatians 3:5

He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Joshua 1:2-3,5-9

2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, [even] to the children of Israel.

3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, [so] I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it [to] the right hand or [to] the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God [is] with thee whithersoever thou goest.

1. Most people who are living a defeated life are defeated because they believe and speak the wrong words out of their mouth.

Proverbs 6:2 KJV

Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

2. The authority to decree and declare releases power to establish God’s will in our lives. But because of man’s free will, man often times abuses his authority by releasing a curse instead of a blessing.

Matthew 12:34-37 Amp

34 You brood of vipers, how can you speak good things when you are evil? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart.

35 The good man, from his [inner] good treasure, brings out good things; and the evil man, from his [inner] evil treasure, brings out evil things.

36 But I tell you, on the day of judgment people will have to give an accounting for every careless or useless word they speak.

37 For by your words [reflecting your spiritual condition] you will be justified and acquitted of the guilt of sin; and by your words [rejecting Me] you will be condemned and sentenced.”

3. God, Creator of the universe, created people to reflect His image. As a reflection of His image, all people have creative power. The outcome of your life will be the words you speak.

Proverbs 18:20-21 Amp

20  A man’s stomach will be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth;

He will be satisfied with the consequence of his words.

21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue,

And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.

4. Longsuffering – Overlook an offense: Never let it get started, it takes two to tango.

Proverbs 19:11 Amp

Good sense and discretion make a man slow to anger,

And it is his honor and glory to overlook a transgression or an offense [without seeking revenge and harboring resentment].

Longsuffering is not the ability to wait, but how we act waiting.

5. Peace – Remain calm: When anger rises against you, let them vent without getting rattled.

Ecclesiastes 10:4 Amp

If the temper of the ruler rises against you, do not leave your post [showing resistance], because composure and calmness prevent great offenses.

6. Gentleness – Speak Gently.

Proverbs 15:1 Amp

A soft and gentle and thoughtful answer turns away wrath,

But harsh and painful and careless words stir up anger.

7. Love – Listen carefully: A lot of conflicts result in miscommunication and misunderstanding.

James 1:19-20 Amp

19 Understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Let everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful listener], slow to speak [a speaker of carefully chosen words and], slow to anger [patient, reflective, forgiving];

20 for the [resentful, deep-seated] anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God [that standard of behavior which He requires from us].

Proverbs 11:12-13 Amp

12 He who despises his neighbor lacks sense,

But a man of understanding keeps silent.

13 He who goes about as a gossip reveals secrets,

But he who is trustworthy and faithful keeps a matter hidden.

8. Kindness – Do not speak rashly, recklessly.

Proverbs 13:3 Amp

The one who guards his mouth [thinking before he speaks] protects his life;

The one who opens his lips wide [and chatters without thinking] comes to ruin.

Proverbs 12:18

There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword,

But the tongue of the wise brings healing.

Why can’t I come out of this pit?

9. Joy – Do not stir a conflict, mind your own business.

Proverbs 26:17-28 Amp

17 Like one who grabs a dog by the ears [and is likely to be bitten]

Is he who, passing by, stops to meddle with a dispute that is none of his business.

18 Like a madman who throws

Firebrands, arrows, and death,

19 So is the man who deceives his neighbor (acquaintance, friend)

And then says, “Was I not joking?”

20 For lack of wood the fire goes out,

And where there is no whisperer [who gossips], contention quiets down.

21 Like charcoal to hot embers and wood to fire,

So is a contentious man to kindle strife.

22 The words of a whisperer (gossip) are like dainty morsels [to be greedily eaten];

They go down into the innermost chambers of the body [to be remembered and mused upon].

23 Like a [common] clay vessel covered with the silver dross [making it appear silver when it has no real value]

Are burning lips [murmuring manipulative words] and a wicked heart.

24 He who hates, disguises it with his lips,

But he stores up deceit in his heart.

25 When he speaks graciously and kindly [to conceal his malice], do not trust him,

For seven abominations are in his heart.

26 Though his hatred covers itself with guile and deceit,

His malevolence will be revealed openly before the assembly.

27 Whoever digs a pit [for another man’s feet] will fall into it,

And he who rolls a stone [up a hill to do mischief], it will come back on him.

28 A lying tongue hates those it wounds and crushes,

And a flattering mouth works ruin.

10. Goodness – Do not return injury.

Romans 12:19-21 Amp

19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave the way open for God’s wrath [and His judicial righteousness]; for it is written [in Scripture], “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

20 But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for by doing this you will heap [a]burning coals on his head.”

21 Do not be overcome and conquered by evil, but overcome evil with good.

11. Self-Control, Faithfulness – Trust God to solve your conflicts.

Proverbs 20:22-24

22 Do not say, “I will repay evil”;

Wait [expectantly] for the Lord, and He will rescue and save you.

23 Differing weights are detestable and offensive to the Lord,

And fraudulent scales are not good.

24 Man’s steps are ordered and ordained by the Lord.

How then can a man [fully] understand his way?
