Financial Hope

God’s Heart

Luke 6:30-38

I. Before we become debt-free we must understand God’s heart.

A. Give to those who ask and do not demand it back. (v30)

B. Treat others the same way you want them to treat you. (v31)

C. Love people who don’t love you. (v32)

D. Do good to people no matter how they treat you. (v33)

E. Lend (give) not expecting it to come back. (v34)

F. Love unselfishly, seek the best or higher good for your enemies, expecting nothing in return, for your reward will be great, rich, abundant and you will be the sons of the most high. Imitate God and He will reward you. (v35)

G. Be merciful as your Father also is merciful. (v36)

H. Do not judge and you will not be judged; don’t be self-righteous. (v37)

I. Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down and shaken together and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the measure you mete it shall be measured back unto you. (v38)

a. The promise of God is to the right heart, a generous, not selfish, heart that imitates God. He then rewards His children.

b. We are laying down our lives for the joy of giving all that we are and have to God and only to Him. There is no greater privilege than to walk in obedience and experience the power of His presence. It is a huge reward.

c. The Lord has to do a work in our heart. We must go from a selfish heart to a grateful, generous heart. We must go from a taker to a giver because this is the heart that God rewards.

d. The revelation of giving is this, it does a supernatural God work in our hearts. That is what God is after, our hearts, not our attitude, our action, our money, but our heart. God goes through our treasure to get our heart.

II. In order to understand finances we must understand the law of Genesis.

A. Genesis 8:22, “As long as the earth remains there will be seed time and harvest.”  Before there is a harvest time there must be a seed time.

B. Genesis 1:11-12, “Everything produces after its kind, and its seed is in itself according to its kind.”

When I plant seed it will multiply and reproduce after its kind. Think about the law of Genesis that God has established. In order to multiply I must be generous and give. (Mark 4:23-29)

III. If God can trust us with the riches of this world. He will give us the true riches. Life is a trust and a test. (Luke 16:11)

A. God is searching for generous hearts He knows He can trust with wealth and resources. (II Chronicles 16:9 NLT)

B. God owns the world and the fullness thereof. (Psalms 24:1) God has all the resources of the universe to give to faithful stewards. He wants to channel millions of dollars to feed the poor, preach the gospel, build churches, and send missionaries all over the world. That’s why His eyes are looking to and fro.

IV. Today if we will make a decision to become a conduit for God’s resources, a channel that God can trust, God will cause all of heaven’s doors, gates and windows to be opened in our lives. (II Corinthians 9:6-15)

Today’s take away: Practice at always having a grateful, generous heart.
