Ricky Sinclair: The Fight of Warriors

The Fight of WarriorsI. The heart of a warrior:

1. Nehemiah heard a word from God in his heart.

A. It overwhelmed him, causing him to sit, weep, mourn, fast and pray before the God of heaven.

B. The burden transformed Nehemiah into a warrior for the kingdom of his God. (Nehemiah 1:4-11)

II. God honored and answered the warrior’s heart and prayer:

1. The king of Babylon gave Nehemiah the right to go and build the wall of Jerusalem back.

A. This meant protection by order of letter and an army escort.

B. He also had permission to go into the King’s Forest and cut any beams or wood he needed to rebuild the wall. (Nehemiah 2:4-9)

III. The vision:

1. Nehemiah told of the work that needed to be done and the reproach of God’s people that would be taken away for their great work.

2. Nehemiah recruited all of the people of God that had a mind and heart to build God’s kingdom. (Nehemiah 2:17-18)

IV. Enemies of the vision:

1. Criticism:

A. The enemy mocked, laughed and became angry at the work of God.

B. Critics always think they can do it better than you.

C. Critics always think they know more than you.

D. Critics always make life about them.

E. Never let the critics get to you and always out last your critics. (Nehemiah 4:1-3)

2. Conspiracy: Sanballat and Tobiah conspired to attack and fight against Jerusalem to hinder the work of God. (Nehemiah 4:7-8)

A. They sent letters, kin, and false prophets.  (Nehemiah 6:12-14)

3. Complainers: Judah said they were tired and couldn’t go anymore.

A. They said our adversaries said that we would not know or even see when they attack us.

B. They will come from all around us and there is nothing that we can do about it. (Nehemiah 4:10-12)

C. Church members must make sure that everyone has something to say good.

D. I don’t want to hear “we can’t, it’s too big, it’s too small, if only we had, or we need to do it like this.”

E. Get your butt in place, get in formation, be the body of Christ, do what God has called you to do according to your gifts and talents.

F. Never complain, never speak against the vision of the house, never speak against your man of God.

G. The man who says it can’t be done should never interrupt the one who is doing.

V. Warriors focus on 2 things:

1. The Lord and the Reason.

A. And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and the rulers, and to the rest of the people. Be not afraid of them: REMEMBERER the Lord which is GREAT and POWERFUL and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses. (Nehemiah 4:14)

VI. The Result:

1. The Lord fought their battles:

A. Everyone is praying

B. Everyone is in one accord and relying on God not themselves.

C. Everyone is doing what God called them to do.

D. They rebuilt the wall of Jerusalem, the city of God in 52 days.

E. They restored Israel’s dignity, families were restored, the safety of the city was restored, the worship center was restored, and the will and purpose of God was done.

F. Their work had become known as a work of God done in record time.  This became a great witness for God.  (Nehemiah 6:15-16)

VII. Pastors need:

1. Strong loyal gate keepers.

A. Who have the pastor’s heart.

B. Who believe in love and unity and have each other’s back.

C. Who are totally sold out to the cause and give their Time, Talent and Treasure.

D. Who fly in a V formation like geese.
