Ricky Sinclair: The Wilderness

The Wilderness

Matthew 13:31-35

Daniel 4:19-37I.

Why is the kingdom of heaven like a tiny mustard seed that grows into a big tree allowing the birds to nest in it? (Matthew 13:31-32)

II. Why is the kingdom of heaven like leaven that a woman hid in three measures till the whole lump was leavened? (Matthew 13:33)

III. I believe the answers are in Daniel 4.

A. All chosen people of God must go through the wilderness to be great. Ex. Joseph, Job, Moses, Jesus.

B. The wilderness breaks you – pride.

C. The wilderness teaches you who God is – revelation.

D. The wilderness matures you – to be greater and do greater things for God.

IV. I believe the tiny mustard seed represents process and growth both personal and in God’s kingdom.

A. I believe you are at the tree in the kingdom of God.

B. I believe the birds represent demons that you are fighting and must overcome by the knowledge of God.

C. I believe leaven is sin that has been hidden in us (sin nature) that must be overcome or will contaminate (the lump) my whole person.

V. King Nebuchadnezzar saw a dream. (Daniel 4:10-26)

A. A tree that reached heaven and to the ends of the earth. The tree was him and his connection with heaven and influence on the earth.

B. The tree thought of how great it was, it’s size, it’s strength, it’s power, it’s shelter, it’s beauty and how prosperous it was. Pride of man.

C. He saw a watcher come down from heaven and sentence the tree to be chopped down. The tree lost everything, it’s life, it’s beauty, it’s strength, it’s shelter, it’s fruit. We must never take our eyes off of heaven, our authority.

D. The watcher in his sentence commanded the stump to be left and bound with iron and bronze. Spiritual lockdown.

E. The tree was no longer beautiful and free and was given the heart of a beast.

VI. The command of this wilderness experience was to expire after seven years, when King Nebuchadnezzar knew that the Most High rules in the kingdom of Men and God Himself gives to whomever He chooses.

VII. Listen to king Nebuchadnezzar now after his wilderness experience.A. Daniel 4:1-3:

1. Unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied unto you.

2. I thought it good to show the signs and wonders that the High God has worked toward me.

3. How great are His signs! And how mighty are His wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and His dominion is from generation to generation.
